The 2020 Report highlights the diverse range of preparedness challenges the Nation faces—from terrorism and active shooter incidents, to cyber-attacks, to natural disasters, as well as how stakeholders across the Nation are using preparedness grant funding to invest in preparedness improvements. The 2020 Report also provides insights into preparedness progress and gaps.
The 2020 Report presents an overview of the five preparedness mission areas—Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery—and describes major findings identified through community-wide research and engagement. Specifically, the Report presents information regarding: National-level preparedness policy gaps; the impact of complex Federal disaster programs on state, local, tribal, and territorial partners; efforts to prepare for catastrophic incidents; and examples—highlighted as “Preparedness in Practice”—that demonstrate real-world progress.
