The “America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018” (“AWIA”) was signed into law by President Trump on October 23, 2018. AWIA includes the Water Resources Development Act of 2018, contains funding provisions for the State Revolving Fund and WaterSense programs, addresses source water protection and imposes revised reporting requirements. Among the most significant changes in AWIA (as discussed below), is the replacement of vulnerability assessments with a new report, and a new requirement for systems serving populations of more than 10,000 that they must prepare Consumer Confidence Reports twice each year.
