Membership
Members from all types of water services, including retail water districts, irrigation districts, wholesale municipal water districts, mutual water companies and a watermaster, realize tangible benefits through PWAG.
These include:
- Cost sharing
- Reducing duplicated effort
- Disaster preparedness, training and exercise
- Mutual aid during emergencies
- Increased influence as a regional water organization
- Enhanced public education programs
Our membership consists of 21 member agencies with an elected six-member board and one full-time employee. Programs include the Conservation Education Team (CET) and Emergency Response Group (ERG), along with ongoing initiatives and ad hoc working groups. The full group meets quarterly in person, and meetings feature association activity updates, program reports, legislative updates and news, and topics of interest such as lessons learned from recent incidents and vendor presentations.
The annual picnic offers members an opportunity to meet and get to know each other, especially important before a disaster. We hold a fun but competitive cornhole competition and enjoy good food together, all in service of working better together. The annual picnic happens in the fall, before our annual participation in the Great California ShakeOut exercise.
Members also communicate through PWAG emergency radios, invite each other to attend training and exercises at their agencies, share knowledge on all kinds of water system challenges, and work together through formal partnerships and informally as needed. Membership is limited to public water agencies in Los Angeles County at this time. To learn more about membership, fill out the Contact Us form and we’ll give you a call.
